We invite you to join us in spreading the healing power of music therapy and the joy of the ukulele to Maui.

About Us

Music has a powerful and personal impact on all of our lives. It can remind us of meaningful moments and relationships, it can affect our emotional states and it can be an invaluable tool when addressing physical or emotional challenges. Simply put, music heals, and we are dedicated to supporting those individuals and organizations committed to sharing music in clinical and non-clinical engagement and bringing comfort, aloha and wellness. Our mission is about access to music and specifically to increase access to music therapists, who's efforts can help people as they address significant and, at times, life-threatening physical and emotional challenges.

As well, we are committed to creating aloha and connection by offering passive listening or Kanikapila; whether in a Children’s Hospital, Nursing Home, Rehabilitation Center, or any environment where music can be shared.

Why the Ukulele?

In recent years the Ukulele has been recognized by music therapists as a valuable tool to help their efforts. It is easy to play when alone, it has happy, warm tones, its size makes it easy to carry, leave by one's bedside during treatment, and a child's hand can reach around its neck to play notes and chords.

Increasing Access to Music Therapists

The majority of music therapists rely on grants for their funding and very often access to their skills are limited. Too frequently music therapists are given the insurmountable task of seeing more people than there are hours in the day and children, adolescents, and adults who could greatly benefit from their work.

We are committed to making a difference in the ability to access music therapists and to raising awareness of the important impact they have in the lives of the patients they serve.

Educational Opportunities

We are committed to creating resources to help music therapists and ukulele enthusiasts improve their abilities to create meaningful clinical outcomes and the enjoyment of playing or listening.

Partnerships

  • Kapi'olani Medical Center for Women & Children Music Therapy Program Initiative

We are honored and humbled by the opportunity to support Kapi'olani's efforts to raise funding to establish a music therapy program led by a certified music therapist at Hawaii's only full-service children's specialty medical center.

It is our commitment to bring this important initiative to the children of Hawaii to support healing and coping with hospitalization.

We will be directing a percentage of all donations, revenue created by our workshops and unrestricted grants to support the funding to establish a music therapy program and provide ukuleles to hospitalized keiki (or children).
